Modern wood-burning stoves demand more from the chimney – as it appears from the new guide Good Advice before buying a wood-burning stove

No one would these days dream of buying a new car without at the same time to consider the size of the engine. But this is nevertheless the way many Danish house owners buy a new wood-burning stove today. And the result is often a solution that so to speak could have been better.

This is one of the main messages in the new guide – Good advice before buying – that Morsø has just released. It is a 20 page brochure that gives the consumer much advice and useful knowledge of relevant aspects when choosing a wood-burning stove such as choice of material, construction, combustion principles, rules of installation, types of fuel, and firing techniques.

According to the brochure the chimney is in principle the engine of the stove and it is crucial that draught of the chimney is optimum to make the stove work well. If the chimney does not have the right amount of draught, the installation cannot work properly. Many house owners are not aware of the fact that modern stoves demand more from the chimney conditions than older stoves with traditional combustion principles.

Another important tip in the guide is that the house owner will get the best utilization of the wood by using small pieces of wood.
