Four tips on how to use your stove sensibly
– it helps your economy and the environment!

1. Lighting requires quick heating which is achieved by using dry twigs and kindling and, if necessary, a little bit of newspaper, and plenty of air while the gases from the heated fuel are burning.

 2. Burn small quantities of wood at a time to enable the gases time to burn, and open up for air every time you add another log to the fire.

3. Only once the flames have died down, i.e. when there are no more dark-yellow flames, adjust the draught controls to reduce the air supply.

4. When only glowing embers remain, reduce the air supply to a level sufficient to cover your immediate heating requirement. The wood burns slower with less air supply, which also results in reduced heat loss through the chimney.

Combustion air
Morsø’s stoves are designed to supply the correct volumes of combustion air for environmentally optimum combustion.

In connection with wood firing, air is supplied to the top of the flames as secondary or tertiary air to light the gases from the wood. When firing with, e.g., coal or energy coke, air is also supplied through the bottom grate (primary air). The combustion principles and how to set the air controls are described in detail in the firing instructions for the stove.
